Adam Recalled For United

TONY PULIS recalled Charlie Adam to his starting eleven for Sunday's live televised encounter against Manchester United . . . as the Stoke City boss made three changes to his side.

The Scotland international lined up as part of a five-man midfield, which also included the returning Glenn Whelan, who came in at the expense of Dean Whitehead, and former France Under-21 international Steven Nzonzi.

Matthew Etherington failed a late fitness test meaning his spot on the left hand side of midfield went to Jonathan Walters, whilst Ryan Shotton continued on the right flank.

Marc Wilson failed to shrug off a hamstring injury meaning Andy Wilkinson returned to the team, making up a back four that comprised of Ryan Shawcross, Robert Huth and Geoff Cameron.

Trinidad and Tobago international Kenwyne Jones got the nod to start up-front, with England's Peter Crouch having to settle for a spot amongst the substitutes.

The bench included the likes of Crouch, Whitehead, Cameron Jerome, Michael Owen and Wilson Palacios.

Stoke City: Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross (C), Huth, Wilkinson; Shotton, Whelan, Adam, Nzonzi, Walters; Jones. Subs: Sorensen, Whitehead, Palacios, Kightly, Jerome, Owen, Crouch.
