IBRAHIM AFELLAY surprised pupils at Leek First School on Tuesday afternoon as he popped along to hand out goody bags to the latest batch of youngsters to join the Club's City 7s scheme.
The Dutch international midfielder spent over an hour with the Year 2 pupils at the school, answering questions and posing for photographs with the excited youngsters.
Twenty eight children will reap the benefits of the hugely-popular scheme, which is designed to help entice youngsters to the bet365 Stadium to cheer on their Premier League heroes.
Sponsored by Leek United Building Society, the seven-year-olds received goody bags that included a 2016/17 home shirt, one junior and one adult ticket to a selected Premier League fixture and lots more.
Speaking at the event, Afellay, who has recently returned from a long-term injury, said: "It is great to have the opportunity to come out to places like this and meet the young children who give their support to the Club.
"You sense there is a real community spirit around Stoke City and for me, there is nothing better than coming out and helping put a little smile on their faces."
Children whose seventh birthday falls between 1st September 2016 and 31st August 2017 are invited to join City 7s.
For just £10, the young supporter will receive the following:
- Presentation at the bet365 Stadium
- 2016/17 home shirt
- 1 Junior and 1 Adult match ticket to a selected home game
- £5 voucher to open a Stoke City Football Club Junior 'Save and Support' Affinity Account with Leek United Building Society
