An Important Month - Wilson

MARC WILSON has highlighted the importance of March as the Potters prepare to open the month with a testing encounter against Premier League title-contenders Arsenal.

The Potters play host to the Gunners at the Britannia Stadium this coming weekend, before making the long journey east to Norwich City seven days later.

Further crucial encounters against rivals West Ham United, Aston Villa and Hull City follow before the end of the month, and Wilson says the outcomes of those games could have a huge barring on the Club's fortunes this term.

"It's a huge month because we have a lot of games against the teams that we are battling with in the league table," the Republic of Ireland international told the forthcoming edition of #pottersmag.

"We want to try and pull ourselves away from the bottom three as much as possible, because we certainly don't want to be going into the final three or four weeks with pressure on us.

"It's important to get points on the board, and to do that we have to let our football do the talking."

He added: "We have been unlucky this season in quite a lot of games, but we can't use that as an excuse.

"Every game between now and the end of the season has something resting on it, not just for us, for everyone, because it is so congested at the top and at the bottom."

The 26-year-old's immediate priorities however firmly lie on Saturday's clash against Arsene Wenger's side, a fixture he feels the Potters are more than capable of taking a positive result from.

"We have taken some good results in these sort of games this season though, so we will be hoping to do that again on Saturday," he said.

"It will be tough, and we will have to defend well and remain organised, but if we can do that, and create the chances that we know that we can they it's a game that we can get something from.

"They are a very good side with world class players, and the fact that they are right up there at the top shows how difficult a game it will be for us."

Tickets for the game are still available to purchase for the fixture from the official Britannia Stadium ticket office, online at SCFCDIRECT.COM or by calling 01782 367599.
