Arrive Early For Celebrations

STOKE CITY have reminded supporters to arrive early for the 150th Anniversary celebrations before Sunday's final home game of the season against Tottenham.

The festivities will get into full swing at midday before a grand parade of more than 80 ex-City players and the Britannia Stadium turnstile will be open from 11.30am.

That is one of the big features of entertainment for all the family that will make it an extra special day and provide an exciting build-up to the visit of Tottenham.

Having chosen the lived televised match against Spurs as their celebration match, the Club will be creating a real carnival atmosphere to mark the 150th Anniversary.

The pre-match build-up includes:

*A parade of more than 80 former players

*Entertainment including jugglers, ball wizards, stilt walkers, clowns and face painters

*Performances from the Co-operative Funeralcare Brass Band North West

*Guard of honour featuring flame throwers

*A red and white shirt display by fans to greet the players

City's Chief Executive Tony Scholes said: "This will be a fantastic celebration of our 150 years and we want everyone to come along and join the party.

"The important thing is that people should arrive early if they want to enjoy all the entertainment that will be taking place both inside and outside of the stadium.

"The presence of so many of our former players has created an enormous amount of interest among supporters who will need to be inside the stadium for 12.15pm to see the start of the parade which will take place in the countdown to the kick-off.

"The former players will have gathered at our Clayton Wood Training Ground earlier that morning for a reception and a tour of the facilities before they are then transported by coach to the stadium ahead of them being introduced to the crowd."

He added: "There will be so much more going on as well, something for everyone, and this will all add to what we are sure will be a day to remember, not forgetting, of course, the fact that we have a big game against one of the top teams in the country."

The parade of former players will last for 40 minutes during which they will each be invited up onto a stage located in front of the Q-railing Stand where they will be presented with a commemorative shirt by the Club's Chairman Peter Coates.

There will also be entertainment for all the family, including music from the highly-acclaimed Co-operative Funeralcare Brass Band North West who will perform outside the stadium initially and then move inside before the kick-off.

The half-time activities will feature the unveiling of the Club's 'Greatest XI' voted by supporters as part of the 150th Anniversary.

Further information about the day's events will be announced shortly.
