Potters set off for warm weather training...

STOKE CITY'S first team squad will touch down in Dubai later today as they prepare for their next Premier League encounter against Tottenham Hotspur with a warm weather training camp.

Boss Mark Hughes and his first team staff and players departed for the Middle East from London Heathrow earlier today.

A similar trip took place during the Welshman’s maiden campaign as City boss, with the Club then pushing on to record a first ever Premier League top half finish at the end of the 2013/14 season.

The Potters also embarked upon an almost identical stay in the Gulf and went on to enjoy a remarkable upturn in fortunes over the second half of the 2014/15 campaign as City secured a successive top ten finish.

This trip will be the Club’s fourth visit to the Middle East and Hughes is hoping that a mixture of training and relaxation proves equally as beneficial to his squad this time around as the side look to build upon their last three historic ninth place league finishes over the final months of the current campaign.

“We will go away for a few days for some training and hopefully we will be able to get several players back and ready for the game at Tottenham in just over a weeks’ time,” the manager said.

“The break has come at a good time for us to be perfectly honest, so we will look forward to it, utilise it correctly and hopefully be in really good shape for the next game.”

The squad will end their stay in Dubai next Wednesday, before finalising preparations for the forthcoming televised Premier League clash at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 26th February, back in the Potteries.
