LEE GRANT hailed his ‘End of Season Awards Dinner’ hat-trick as a moment he will never forget.
The former England U21 international scooped three accolades at the Club’s 2016/17 ceremony, including the two most prestigious, ‘Players Player of the Season’ and ‘Fans Player of the Season’.
It capped of a remarkable debut campaign at the bet365 Stadium for the 34-year-old, who initially arrived on loan from Derby County last summer to serve as back-up to the likes of Jack Butland and Shay Given.
Speaking to Stoke City Player
on Wednesday, Grant said: “It’s quite incredible really to be standing here with three awards, it’s a really special evening for me, and one i will remember for a long, long time.
“I certainly didn’t envisage this being the case when I first walked through the doors here at the stadium a few hours ago - I am overjoyed.
“If you rewind back to August when I arrived my remit was to simply help out the other goalkeepers here and provide competition for them.
“Obviously in my own mind if there was an opportunity that arose then I was always going to try and grab that with both hands.”
He added: “I think these awards show that I have been able to do that, so I am delighted with the way everything has gone for me this season.”
