STOKE City Ladies Reserves play their final game of the season on Sunday knowing victory will secure them the title.

A successful campaign has seen the reserves win 13 of their 17 fixtures in the FA Women’s Premier League Reserve Midland Division and they host second placed Cardiff City this weekend.

Cardiff are out of the title hunt but any slip up from Stoke would open the door for Leicester City to steal the championship should they win their final three matches.

The equation as far as Stoke are concerned is simple though. Three points will ensure silverware and having won their last seven matches confidence is certainly high.

Manager Phil Bruce is buoyant ahead of Sunday’s fixture: “With the results we have been achieving we’ve given ourselves the best chance of winning the title.

“I’m ever so proud of the Ladies and we have a great chance to finish the season off in style and to show the real strength we have got at the club.”

Stoke beat Coventry United 6-1 last time out, with Emily Curteis scoring a hat-trick on her return to the starting line-up, but they come up against a resurgent Cardiff at Community Drive.

The side from the Welsh capital have scored 24 goals in their last four matches and did Stoke a favour by beating title rivals Leicester 4-3 last weekend.

With just 90 minutes between Stoke and the title there is no doubt that this season has been a huge success for the reserve side. A trophy would top it off very nicely.

Kick off on Sunday is at 2.00pm, with free entry at Community Drive (ST6 1RU).
