Scotland international eager to improve next season...

POTTERS midfielder Charlie Adam has praised his record breaking teammates following a history making campaign at the Britannia Stadium.

City’s victory over midlands neighbours West Bromwich Albion meant the Potters ended the season in ninth place - the Club’s highest finish since gaining promotion in 2008.

The win in the Black Country also ensured Stoke registered their highest ever points tally in the Barclays Premier League and Adam says the Club can be proud of their accomplishments over the course of this season.

“Securing ninth place is a massive achievement for this football club,” he told Stoke City Player.

“The lads deserve a lot of credit, because over the course of the season we have been fantastic and we deserve to have ended the season in the top half of the league.

“It puts a nice kind of pressure on us going into next year. We’ve set ourselves the standard and of course we will be looking to better it next year.

“Finishing in the top half and breaking the points tally gives us a springboard to progress and improve next season.

“I’m sure the manager will be looking to bring in plenty of fresh faces over the summer and we will look forward to challenging ourselves when we return for pre-season.”

The Scotland international added: “We need to continue being competitive.

“There is a great team spirit here, towards the end of this season we could have easily let a majority of the games flow by us.

“We have been determined to win each game and finish the season on a high and we have done just that, it has been a great year for us.

“This football club deserves what we have achieved and hopefully we can improve upon it next year.”
