Young striker makes second debut for Iron + other loan watch news

JAMES ALABI made his second debut for Scunthorpe United in Tuesday evening's home game with Southend United.

The 19-year-old, who rejoined the Iron following a similar spell at Glanford Park last season, came off the bench for the final 15 minutes of their 2-2 draw.

The point gained made it a club record 20-games unbeaten, but the Iron did miss out on the chance to go top of the table with leaders Chesterfield being held at Wimbledon.

In League One, the three-way battle at the top continues and Jamie Ness saw his Leyton Orient side record at 2-0 victory against Port Vale.

Ness was an unused substitute at Vale Park as they claimed their first win in Burslem for 57 years.

The win keeps the pressure on league leaders Wolves, who also won to maintain their two point advantage.

Third-placed Brentford recorded a home victory to stay a point behind the Os with two games in hand. The two meet in a hugely important London derby on Saturday.

In the Championship, Jack Butland conceded another four to make it nine goals in just two home games.

The Yorkshire outfit followed up a 5-1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers at the weekend with a 4-2 reverse to Reading.

Things don't get any easier either with Michael Kightly and Burnley the Whites' opponents at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Kightly himself was an unused substitute in the Clarets' thrilling 3-3 draw at Birmingham City last night.

The home side fought back three times to earn the draw, with the result leaving Burnley seven points behind league leaders Leicester City, who have a game in hand, but eight in front of third-placed Derby County.

Finally in the Conference, defender Jordan Keane played another 90 minutes in Tamworth's 1-0 defeat at Nuneaton Town on Tuesday.

The result follows on from their home win by the same scoreline over Aldershot Town at the weekend, in a game where Keane made it into the Conference Team of the Week.
