Academy starlet ready for prestigious international tournament...

JAMES Alabi admits he is eager to get the U19 Altstatten International Tournament underway later today after arriving in the Swiss town on Thursday morning.

The powerful striker, who recently returned from his third loan spell of the season, says he and the rest of his teammates are looking forward to facing FC Altstatten, the Liechtenstein Under-19s and Brazilian outfit Atletico Paranaense in their three group games.

The 19-year-old spoke to stokecityfc.com on Thursday evening and said that the squad just want to get their campaign started after quickly adjusting to their new surroundings in Switzerland.

“We’ve already received a nice welcome from the locals and the weather is pretty decent so we are just waiting with anticipation to get started now,” he beamed.

“We have all had chance to look around the stadium and the pitch isn’t too bad which is a positive for when we kick-off.

“Hopefully if the weather remains bright then it should be a decent day and there is expected to be a decent crowd throughout the competition so I know, like myself, the rest of the lads are looking forward to it.”

The former Celtic forward also revealed that he’s set himself some targets and hopes they can help the squad to eventual victory by the end of Saturday.

“My personal aim is to get as many goals as I possibly can over the course of the tournament and try to finish as the top goalscorer,” said Alabi.

“It’s a great chance to shine on an international stage and I want to make sure I impress and do well for the team so that we can reach our ultimate of objective to reach the final and win it.”
