City goalkeeper makes crucial saves in 1-0 win

ASMIR BEGOVIC made a crucial contribution as Bosnia and Herzegovina pulled off a 1-0 win over Mexico in Chicago last night.

The City goalkeeper was on hand to deny both Francisco Rodriguez and Miguel Ponce in the latter stages of the game as Bosnia hung on to end the Mexican's eight-game unbeaten run.

Galatasary's Izet Hajrovic scored the only goal of the game in front of an overwhelmingly Mexican capacity crowd of 60,707 at Soldier Field.

The result gives them three wins from three World Cup warm-up matches prior to travelling to Brazil, with a 5-0 triumph over their own Under-21 side back in their homeland followed up by the 2-1 win over Ivory Coast in St Louis and last night's victory in Illinois.

Begovic and co will now head to the Brazilian coastal town of Guaruja where they will be based for the tournament.

They face Santos' Under-20s there on Sunday before a Group F opener with Argentina at the Maracana seven days later.
