ASSISTANT MANAGER Mark Bowen says it is imperative that the Potters build upon Saturday’s historic 3-2 victory against Cheslea when they travel to the KC Stadium this weekend.
The Potters recorded a first ever Premier League triumph against the Blues, and ended a near 40-year long wait for success against the Londoners thanks to a stunning late strike from Moroccan international Oussama Assaidi.
Whilst Bowen was delighted with the result, he says that it is crucial to maintain the form over the course of the next three or four weeks to set themselves up for what he hopes will be a very exciting second half of the season.
“It was a huge victory for us and one that gives us all a huge boost as we prepare for a very busy Christmas period,” he exclusively told stokecityfc.com.
“There is no point winning games like we did against Chelsea and then going and losing in other matches. We need to keep the momentum and try to win more games than we have done so far this season.
“In terms of performances I think we can be pleased with what we have produced, but there is no doubt in my mind that we should have more points on the board than we currently have.
“We believe that we are arguably in a false position, because there have been a good number of games in which we haven’t picked points up that we deserved to have done.
“I could reel of three, four or even five games where we didn’t pick up the result that our performance probably warranted.”
He added: “Saturday was huge for us though; it has given us even greater confidence and now we want to go to Hull at the weekend and replicate the performance levels that we showed against Chelsea.”
