City Star Looks Towards Quarter-Finals

GEOFF CAMERON will be hoping to play his part as the United States of America look to progress to the World Cup Quarter-Finals later today when they face off against Belgium in their round of 16 tie.

The Stars and Stripes take on the European nation in Salvador this evening (9pm) after finishing as Group G runners-up behind Germany following an eventful opening three games to the tournament.

City’s 28-year-old defender started at the heart of the defence for the first two group games against Ghana and Portugal but missed out last Thursday as the Americans lost 1-0 at the hands of Germany.

Should Cameron be involved and help his side through to the final eight then he will be the only Potter left in the competition following Peter Odemwingie’s departure with Nigeria yesterday afternoon.

Despite Stephen Keshi’s side looking set to cause an upset for large parts of their fixture against France in Brasilia, two late strikes from former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and an own goal from Joseph Yobo consigned the Super Eagles to a 2-0 defeat in front of almost 70,000 spectators in the country’s capital.
