Cameron looks forward to his Houston return
GEOFF CAMERON admits he will have mixed emotions when he heads home with Stoke City this summer as part of the Club’s pre-season tour of America.
The Potters have announced they will open their 10-day tour with a game against Cameron’s former club Houston Dynamo on Wednesday 24th July.
The Club were presented with an opportunity to line-up against the MLS side after completing the signing of US international last summer.
The 27-year-old defender, who has established himself as a key figure in Tony Pulis’ plans in his first season in the Premier League, is relishing the prospect of a return to familiar territory but admits: “I think it’s going to be mixed emotions really.
“Obviously, playing for Houston for four and a half years – and they were a great four and a half years – I made a lot of friends in the team, many of whom I am still very close to.
“It’s going to be fun going back there and this time I will be playing against them. I am also looking forward to going back to Houston and to see all my old stomping grounds.”
City’s players had to cope with the heat and humidity when they visited Columbus, Orlando and Kansas City on last year’s tour, but Cameron has warned it will be even hotter this time.
“I have already warned the guys that they have no idea what they are walking into – playing in the 100 degree weather,” he said. “It’s going to be a sauna pretty much.
“But it will be great going back to Houston and I am really looking forward to it.”
City will also face FC Dallas, Brek Shea’s former club, on Saturday 27th July as part of their trans-Atlantic trip as they prepare for the 2013-14 season.
