STOKE CITY will face Paolo di Canio’s Swindon Town in the Capital One Cup Second Round . . . with the tie due to take place in the week commencing 27th August at the Britannia Stadium.
The Robins knocked Championship Brighton & Hove Albion out in the First Round, and will be hoping to go one step further by claiming a Premier League scalp this time around.
Di Canio led the Robins to the League Two title last season and will relish the opportunity to pit his wits against top-flight opposition.
City will be prepared for the challenge, however, and will hope to repeat some of the cup form of recent years with a run in the competition.
Swindon were the opposition in our first ever League game at the Britannia Stadium in August 1997, with the visitors running out 2-1 winners.
