CHARLIE ADAM says he and his teammates will draw the positives from Wednesday evening’s stalemate with Cardiff City, despite acknowledging that all three points were there for the taking.
The Scotland international was pleased with the way the Potters bounced back from Saturday’s 4-0 reverse at Everton – citing a goal as the only missing ingredient from a dominant home performance.
Speaking to Stoke City Player
following the encounter he said: “In terms of bouncing back from a very disappointing performance at the weekend I thought that we can be pleased with the way that we acquitted ourselves, particularly in the second half.
“It was a difficult performance to take at the weekend, but I thought we dug in well, created a lot of chances and just needed that little break to have gone on and won the game.
“We need to keep doing what we have been doing, and not let these sort of results affect us.
“We are good enough to get results we know that, but we are missing that little bit of luck that you need to win games at this level.”
He added: “They came here for the point and they got that. We are disappointed though not to have got the win because over the 90 minutes there was only one side who were likely to take the three points.”
Chelsea arrive at the Britannia Stadium in less than 72 hours time, and whilst Jose Mourinho’s side will go into the game as favourites, the midfielder doesn’t feel that a victory in that game is out of the equation.
“We have a tough game at the weekend, but they will be coming here knowing that they have a tough afternoon too,” he added.
“They are one of the top teams in the league, who have had another good result tonight, so it will be difficult.
“We want to win the game though, and we will create chances. If we can take one or two of them, have that bit of luck then it is a game that we can get something from, for sure.”
