Winger starts against former side as Pulis makes one change

TONY PULIS made one change to his starting eleven for the Potters final home league game of the season against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

The Stoke City boss recalled Matthew Etherington to his side for the clash against his former side, with Cameron Jerome dropping down to the bench at his expense.

The rest of the side remained unchanged from the one that secured a thoroughly deserved point against Sunderland six days earlier.

Asmir Begovic ushered a back four that comprised of Ryan Shotton, skipper Ryan Shawcross, Robert Huth and Republic of Ireland ace Marc Wilson.

The midfield quartet once again featured Dean Whitehead, who continued to deputise for the injured Glenn Whelan, Steven Nzonzi, Charlie Adam and Etherington.

Peter Crouch was deployed as the lone striker against the side that he made 93 appearances for prior to his move to the Britannia Stadium almost two years ago.

The visitors were at full strength for the encounter, with the recently crowned PFA Player of the Year Gareth Bale named in the starting eleven.

Stoke City: Begovic; Shotton, Shawcross (c), Huth, Wilson; Adam, Whitehead, Nzonzi, Etherington; Walters, Crouch. Subs: Sorensen, Cameron, Wilkinson, Kightly, Jerome, Jones, Owen.
