Jeff Winter takes centre stage in "300 Miles / 3 Days" charity evening

OVER A thousand pounds was raised for the "300 Miles / 3 Days" cycle challenge last night when former referee Jeff Winter hosted a charity fundraising evening.

Ex-Premier League official Winter took centre stage to share his thoughts and experiences with guests at the Nuffield Health, Fitness and Wellbeing Centre opposite the Britannia Stadium.

Local comedian Mick Martin was also on hand where money was raised from prizes in an auction as well as a raffle.

Auction items included a signed Stoke City team photograph and tickets for matchday VIP hospitality in the 1863 Lounge.

Proceeds from the "300 Miles / 3 Days" cycle challenge will be shared between the Club's Community Trust and Rangers FC's Charity Foundation.

Following on from last year's inaugural event, this year sees the bikers head in the opposite direction - from Ibrox in Glasgow down to the Britannia Stadium.

Further fundraising ahead of the May challenge will take place next month with a "Riders' Cup Golf Day" involving former players from both teams taking place at Trentham Golf Club.

Club President and World Cup winner Gordon Banks will team up with Jimmy Greenhoff, Peter Thorne and John Ruggiero to take on a Rangers quartet including Andy Goram and Derek Johnstone.
