FULL-BACKS Andy Wilkinson and Ryan Shotton were surprise inclusions in Stoke City’s line-up to face Manchester City in the FA Cup fourth round tie.
Wilkinson and Shotton were both considered doubts in the lead-up to the game, but returned to a defence which was missing USA international Geoff Cameron.
Manager Tony Pulis also recalled Michael Kightly to the side which was beaten at Swansea last weekend, while as expected Thomas Sorensen returned in goal.
Those changes meant that Pulis named a strong bench which included Charlie Adam, Michael Owen and Peter Crouch, as well as midfielder Dean Whitehead.
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini, who was already without the Toure brothers due to Africa Cup of Nations duty, recalled Joleon Lescott to the centre of his defence.
But there was no Matija Nastasic or Mario Balotelli in his matchday squad and England goalkeeper Joe Hart made way for Costel Pantilimon.
