Lucky Potters Foundation winners go behind the scenes ahead of Saturday's game with Aston Villa

THREE LUCKY Potters Foundation Members have taken a once-in-a-lifetime glimpse behind the scenes at the Club’s Clayton Wood training ground.

John Ashby from Baddeley Green, Jim Windsor from Porthill and Fenton’s Darren Dimmock were picked at random to take a tour of the state-of-the-art facility.

Accompanied by Foundation representative Dave Evison and Media Manager Colin Burgess, the trio visited areas of the training complex usually off-limits to members of the public.

It really was access all areas as they were first shown the Media Suite, where they were fortunate enough to meet Stoke City Player and BBC Radio Stoke’s Nigel Johnson.

P.A. to the Football Department Angela Shelley also found time to explain her role with The Potters.

John, Jim and Darren were also introduced to video analyst Scott Coomber, who revealed his job is to provide the manager, coaching and playing staff with in-depth information on Stoke’s forthcoming opposition. He also revealed how some players ask for analysis on a one-to-one basis.

The three winners also visited the gymnasium, hydrotherapy pool and the Academy where, in addition to meeting several of the Club’s up-and-coming young stars and coaches, they were shown what their monthly Foundation subscriptions contribute towards – from boots and kits to even an ambulatory buggy.

However, the highlight of the trip was getting the opportunity to watch manager Tony Pulis preparing for Saturday’s home date with Aston Villa by putting his players through their paces on the training pitch.

They were then introduced to members of the first team squad and posed for photos with Pulis and his assistant Dave Kemp before enjoying a light lunch of chicken, pasta and fruit.

To cap it all, they were each presented with a signed shirt to commemorate their magical day.
