Youngsters in the local area given a chance to shine...

HUNDREDS of budding young football stars were given a chance to shine at the weekend as Stoke City staged their annual Gifted and Talented Coaching Day.

Local schools are invited to send two boys from years one to six to the Clayton Wood Training Complex for an hour’s training session, thereby giving the Club’s coaches chance to assess their potential.

Head of Community Adrian Hurst said: “More than 500 youngsters came along to the training complex and were put through their paces by members of our coaching staff in a session that consisted of skills coaching and small sided game.

“The event was a great success and served to underline that there are some very talented young footballers in Staffordshire.

“We hope the youngsters enjoyed the experience and we’re grateful for the continued support of the schools.”
