Striker Jones goes back to school to speak to youngsters

KENWYNE JONES has been back to school to encourage youngsters to try and make their dreams a reality.

The Stoke City striker visited Newstead Primary School in Blurton to take part in a question and answer session.

Stoke City Community Trust coach youngsters at the school every Monday but the children had no idea that Jones would be popping in as well.

The Trinidad & Tobago international talked at length about his career so far and encouraged the pupils to try and fulfil their ambitions.

"It’s really important for sports men and women to try and inspire the kids and it was great to go along to Newstead Primary and chat to the youngsters.

"You never know what kids are going to turn out to be, whether it's a footballer or a politician, but it's good to get them interested in things."

Headteacher Helen Stocking said: "It's good to get people like Kenwyne to come and speak to the children. It gives them role models and shows them they can be anything they want to be if they work hard and try hard.”

City’s Head of Community Adrian Hurst said: "It was a great thrill for the children to welcome a Premier League footballer into their school.

"Kenwyne talked about how he turned his dream of one day becoming a professional footballer into reality and it was clear to see the youngsters really enjoyed what he had to say."
