STOKE CITY new boy Stephen Ireland will go head-to-head with Jermaine Pennant and Erik Pieters for the honour of being named Stoke Kitchen Champion, sponsored by Wrights, on Thursday 10th October.
Ireland, who is on a season-long loan with the Club from Aston Villa, has become the latest first team star to sign up for the eagerly-awaited event which will see top TV chef Gino D’Acampo test the three players’ culinary skills.
He will be sponsored by Vein Centre and Eyelid Centre, Pieters will have the backing of KMF and Pennant will be supported by Stepping Stones Group as they battle it out to be named King of the Kitchen.
The Tony Waddington Suite will be transformed into a superbly-equipped kitchen for the big event, which has proved enormously popular over the last three years.
Rory Delap, Matthew Upson and Michael Owen have scooped the top prize in the previous cook-offs and City will announce at a later date which players will be joining Pennant in challenging for the prestigious honour this time around.
Gino made his first appearance at the Britannia Stadium last year and was an enormous hit, with both the audience and participating players alike.
The Italian shot to prominence in 2009 when he won ITV’s ‘I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!’ He has hosted 'There's No Taste Like Home' and the popular show 'Let's Do Lunch . . . with Gino and Mel', which also features Melanie Sykes. His first primetime series, ‘Gino’s Italian Escape’, will start a six-week run in the autumn.
Tickets for the 2013 Stoke Kitchen are priced at £1,500 plus VAT for a table of 10 people which includes a three course meal, three bottles of wine on each table and a photo opportunity on the night.
Pieters will be sponsored on the night by KMF and opportunities to join them in sponsoring Ireland and Pennant are also available.
