POP sensations JLS will be performing live at the Britannia Stadium ‘Big Event’ early next month ... to make the family day even bigger.
The chart-topping boy band have been confirmed as the headline act to round off a fantastic afternoon of entertainment on Sunday 2nd June.
Marvin Humes, J.B. Gill, Aston Merrygold and Oritse Williams will treat those attending the Big Event to a selection of their greatest hits, having had five UK number ones since they emerged as runners-up on the television reality show The X-Factor.
After five years of phenomenal success, JLS recently announced they will be splitting up at the end of this year, creating a clamour for opportunities to see them perform before going their separate ways, which is certain to be the case in the Potteries.
“The Big Event will be a seven hour extravaganza featuring a Stoke City legends v Celebrity Soap Stars football match, live music and other entertainment which is now topped by the news that JLS will be our main attraction,” commented City’s Head of Commercial Andrew Billingham.
“JLS have a massive following and the huge interest in the band has been heightened by the news that they will be splitting up later this year.
“This alone should ensure there is great interest in the tickets for this event, although there will be many other attractions throughout this day.
“It will be a wonderful occasion for all the family and it will be the latest in a long line of major events we have brought to the Britannia Stadium.”
JLS are excited at the prospect of performing at the Britannia Stadium as they begin the countdown to their grand farewell.
“This year will be a celebration of all that the band has achieved over the past five years and we want to enjoy it with as many of the fans who have contributed to our success as possible,” members of JLS commented in a statement.
“It will be fantastic to be able to come to Stoke and perform in front of some of our fans who support this event.”
The Club have already announced some big names from the world of football and television who will be appearing in the game itself in mid-afternoon, while the programme of entertainment will feature a dance competition involving 18 groups.
There will be fund-raising on the day, including a bucket collection for the Stoke City Community Trust and the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.
