STOKE CITY LADIES retained their Staffordshire FA County Cup trophy for a fifth successive occasion with a 3-0 win over FC Reedswood last night.
The victory, courtesy of goals from Louise Roberts, Jamilla Palmer and Laura Garside, ensured the Potters maintained an unbeaten record in the competition stretching back to 2008.
City opened the scoring when Roberts glanced in a free kick from Meg Bowyer before Jamilla Palmer took two players on and saw a cross-cum-shot loop over the keeper to double the advantage.
Jade Boulton then fired over the crossbar from the penalty spot, but Garside went on to make it three when she intercepted the ball from a defender to round the keeper and slot home.
Ladies team manager Andrew Frost was delighted with the win, saying, "It was a professional performance from the girls in what was a high-tempo final.
"We set the girls a target at the start of the season to get to the final, and possibly win it, so to do so is fantastic."
Stoke return to league action on Sunday with the visit of Leeds United to Wellbeing Stadium in Stone, looking to take the confidence gained into the game following last weekend's 4-2 loss to visitors Bradford City.
