STOKE CITY Ladies have done it again . . . with their first team and reserves set to meet each other in the Staffordshire County Cup Final for the second time in three years.
The Ladies first team will be aiming to lift the trophy for a fifth successive season in what will be their seventh consecutive appearance in the final next month.
Two seasons ago, the first team and reserves met in the final with the first-team winning 4-0 and so the reserves will be seeking revenge on Tuesday 19th March.
The Ladies first team also find themselves top of the League and bidding for promotion after narrowly missing out last season.
Joint first team manager Andrew Frost expressed his delight at both teams reaching the Final.
“This shows the direction that the Club is moving in and is a great achievement for both the firsts and reserves to get to the County Cup Final,” said Frost. “It shows the real strength in depth of our squad and is a great achievement for the club.”
The first team’s route to the Final began with a home walkover against local rivals Port Vale before an 11-1 win against Audley in the next round.
They then beat Cannock 9-0 in the semi-finals with four goals from Laura Garside, a brace each from Chantelle Gallagher and Tasha Lily and a Claudia Walker goal rounding off the rout.
The reserves won 5-2 at Bradwell Belles in the second round and followed that with a 1-0 victory over Florence in the third.
Lou Roberts then netted in the semis along with a Jodie Foxhall brace to overcome Walsall 3-1 and book their place in the Final where they will hope to upset the odds and get revenge for their defeat at the hands of the first team two years ago.
