Potters take on Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena this Sunday

STOKE CITY LADIES are back in FA Cup action this weekend when they take on Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena.

The Potters have reached the Third Round stage of the competition for only the second time, and will be hoping the magic of the cup will inspire them as they take to the pitch on Sunday afternoon (kick off 2.00pm).

Stoke's last three competitive fixtures have been postponed due to the bad weather, but manager Andrew Frost insists the girls will be fully prepared for what will be a challenging game.

They drew 1-1 in a recent friendly against Women's Super League side Aston Villa, after putting seven past The New Saints in last month's Second Round success.

"It's been a good week in training and everyone is excited for the game," Frost told stokecityfc.com.

"The squad has come a long way in the last three or four years and they deserve to go and perform on such a stage against a very good team."

It will be a rare sight for Coventry City fans this season – a Sky Blues team playing at home in their city – following the first team’s temporary relocation to Northampton.

It could offer supporters a rare glimpse of seeing a Sky Blues side in action in their home city, meaning the Potters may need to overcome a large backing and of course, not being overawed by a first visit to the 32,609 capacity stadium.

"We need to be at our best and need to remain mentally strong as well," he added.

"It's important that our girls don't go down there and get overwhelmed by the stadium and occasion.

"If we play as a unit, and as good as we can, then we will rise to the test."

Tickets for the game are priced at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
