CITY MIDFIELDER Maurice Edu popped into Seabridge Primary School this week to meet with local children and to support the school’s “Red Shoe Day”.
The USA international joined in with the youngsters on their team-building exercises and also answered their questions on the school’s own Seabridge Radio.
Seabridge’s “Red Shoe Day” was held as part of the school’s transition to a co-operative trust and to also encourage the children to raise their aspirations.
The Club’s own Community Trust team regular conduct in-school coaching and after-school clubs at Seabridge with the aim to help deliver better PE classes and to inspire the children through the programmes.
“We’d like to thank Maurice for coming and he really was excellent with the children,” said the Community Trust’s Warren Leat.
“He joined in with all the children and reiterated why it is important to learn at school and to make the most of any opportunities that arise.
“We’ve only been involved with Seabridge Primary for about a year so it’s great to see the progress that they’re making and to see the children’s faces when a Maurice came in.”
Speaking to the children, Edu’s message was simple: “If you believe in yourself, and you believe you can achieve, you can do it.”
