MARC MUNIESA was handed his first Premier League start of 2014 against Tottenham Hotspur as boss Mark Hughes made one change to his starting eleven.
The Spanish starlet was include in the eleven for the first time since the goalless draw with Hull City last December, with Erik Pieters the player to make way.
Muniesa was rewarded for his impressive substitute showing at the Cardiff City Stadium seven days earlier – a game in which he was introduced prior to the interval due with Pieters struggling through illness.
The rest of the side was unchanged, with Asmir Begovic ushering a back four that comprised of Geoff Cameron on the right, Ryan Shawcross and Marc Wilson in the middle and Muniesa on the left.
Peter Odemwingie and Marko Arnautovic occupied the two spots on the flanks, with Glenn Whelan, Steven Nzonzi and the more attack-minded Stephen Ireland occupying the three central midfield berths.
Leading goalscorer Peter Crouch was once again deployed as the lone striker against the side he netted 24 goals in 93 appearances for during a successful three-year spell at White Hart Lane.
STOKE CITY: Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross (c), Wilson, Muniesa; Odemwingie, Whelan, Ireland, Nzonzi, Arnautovic; Crouch. Subs: Sorensen, Wilkinson, Pieters, Palacios, Adam, Assaidi, Walters.
