Club's claim of wrongful dismissal upheld by FA

STOKE CITY have today received notification that Steven Nzonzi will not serve a suspension following his sending off in the Southampton match at the weekend.

The Club submitted a claim of wrongful dismissal immediately after the 3-3 draw with the Saints in which Nzonzi was shown a straight red by referee Mark Clattenburg.

After the Independent Regulatory Commission considered the evidence presented by Club officials regarding the incident, the Football Association have announced that the claim has been upheld and that the suspension has been withdrawn with immediate effect.

Nzonzi, who was cleared to play against Manchester City on New Year’s Day while the outcome of the appeal was pending, will now be free to play in City’s upcoming matches as they prepare for Saturday’s FA Cup third round clash at Crystal Palace.
