Nzonzi returns as forward is ruled out...

MARK HUGHES was forced into making one change to his starting eleven on Saturday after forward Peter Odemwingie failed a late fitness test.

The Nigerian international sustained a calf injury in training this week and was unable to overcome it in time to retain his spot in the side.

His absence paved the way for Steven Nzonzi to return to the eleven, with Marko Arnautovic and Jonathan Walters occupying the two wide berths.

Nzonzi lined up alongside Charlie Adam and Glenn Whelan at the heart of midfield, with England international Peter Crouch spearheading the team.

Asmir Begovic ushered a back four that comprised of American Geoff Cameron, skipper Ryan Shawcross, Marc Wilson and Dutch international Erik Pieters.

On loan Manchester City striker John Guidetti was named on the bench after being forced to sit out last weekend’s narrow 1-0 defeat against his parent club.

Stoke City: Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross (c), Wilson, Pieters; Walters, Nzonzi, Whelan, Adam, Arnautovic; Crouch. Subs: Sorensen, Muniesa, Wilkinson, Palacios, Ireland, Etherington, Guidetti.

Arsenal: Szczesny; Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Cazorla, Rosicky, Wilshire, Arteta (c), Podolski; Giroud. Subs: Fabianski, Vermaelen, Ozil, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Flamini, Sanogo, Gnabry.
