STOKE CITY can confirm that striker Michael Owen has today announced his plans to retire from professional football at the end of the current Barclays Premier League campaign.
The England star has amassed 566 career appearances, scoring an incredible 246 goals – 40 of which came on the international stage for England.
Following his summer move to the Britannia Stadium from Manchester United, Owen has gone on to make seven appearances for the Club, scoring a solitary goal against Swansea City; a landmark 150th top-flight strike.
The Club will be making no further comment at this time.
