Odemwingie awaits Nigeria squad announcement for World Cup Finals...

PETER ODEMWINGIE is facing an anxious wait to find out if he is named in the Nigeria squad for the forthcoming World Cup Finals in Brazil.

The Potters star, who has shone following his January switch from Cardiff City, ended 18-months of international wilderness when boss Stephen Keshi included the pacey frontman in his preliminary squad several weeks ago.

Odemwingie featured in last week's 2-2 draw with Scotland in Glasgow, having stepped off the bench during the final 35 minutes of the encounter and will be hoping to feature more prominently in tomorrow evening's clash with Greece at PPL Park in Philadelphia.

Keshi is expected to make a decision on his chosen 23 imminently, but may opt to wait until the conclusion of Tuesday night's game before officially submitting his confirmed squad to FIFA ahead of their opening fixture with Iran on Monday 16th June.

One Stoke City player who has already been confirmed to participate at the showpiece tournament however, is midfielder Wilson Palacios.

The former Spurs man has been included in Honduras' final 23-man squad for their campaign which kicks off on Sunday 15th June with a testing fixture against France in Porte Alegre.

The tough tackling star played all 90 minutes of his side's 4-2 reverse against Israel at the weekend, but will be hoping that was just a minor blip ahead of the far more important fixtures later this month.

Palacios, who will be competing at his third World Cup Finals, is expected to be named amongst the starting eleven in his country's final warm-up clash against England in Miami on Saturday evening.
