Potters Magazine named 'Programme of the Year'

POTTERS MATCHDAY MAGAZINE has received its biggest accolade to date . . . after scooping the top prize in the ‘Independent View Programme of the Year’ competition for 2012.

The 100-page perfect-bound publication, specially designed to commemorate the Club’s 150th anniversary, came out on top of over 60 other official matchday magazines, in being named as the country’s elite publication for the calendar year.

The award comes from the Northern Programme Club and reflects the major revamp of the magazine, which have been made in tandem with design partners OPublishing.

Chief Executive Tony Scholes expressed his delight at news, saying: “This is a very special season for the Football Club as we celebrate our 150th anniversary and we set out to produce a publication which reflected that.

“We are proud of this achievement which is the result of our media team producing a high standard of content throughout the Matchday Magazine and developing some excellent feature ideas including great emphasis on the Club’s history.

“It is part of the Club’s commitment to providing the very best for our supporters in terms of their matchday experience at the Britannia Stadium.”

Announcing the winner of the accolade, Independent View Magazine Editor, and voting panel member Neil Patterson told the official website that he had never seen quite such an impressive publication.

“We managed to narrow it down to seven contenders, but truth be known there was only ever going to be one winner, and that was obviously Potters Magazine.

“Everything about the publication oozes pure quality, and the volume of content within it is absolutely fantastic. It's not just about quantity however, it's about quality, and every single feature inside the magazine boasts that in abundance.

“The structure of the publication, the ideas which have been generated and the professionalism and attention to detail make this for me, quite possibly the best programme I have ever seen.

“I really do struggle for words to explain how impressive it is! To say it is outstanding is an understatement, and you have to give the editor Mark Mothershaw and the rest of the team immense credit for producing such a superbly consistent publication!”

He added: “It is without doubt the Programme of the Year, and the judging panel were in unanimous agreement that this was by far the clear and deserved winner.”

The Club will be presented with two trophies to commemorate the achievement, both the Independent View Programme of the Year Award, and the coveted David Stacey trophy.

A presentation will be made to the Magazine editor prior to a Barclays Premier League encounter in early 2013, and a full review of the magazine, including a cover photo, will feature in the first Independent View Magazine of the New Year.
