Defender on road to recovery following 45 minute run out...

STOKE CITY defender Robert Huth stepped up his rehabilitation from a long-term knee injury by coming through 45 minutes of Tuesday afternoon’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Burnley.

The German ace hasn’t featured for the first team since limping out of the 2-0 victory against Sunderland at the Britannia Stadium at the end of November.

Mark Hughes delivered good news on his potential availability last week when he revealed that Huth had returned to full training during the warm weather training camp in Dubai.

But it was on Tuesday that he took his biggest step to date by coming through his 45 minutes of action unscathed.

The Potters slipped to a 3-0 defeat at Clayton Wood against an experienced Burnley side, but the game saw the likes of Huth, John Guidetti, Matthew Etherington and Stephen Ireland gain some much needed playing time.
