MARK HUGHES made seven changes to his starting line-up from the side that comfortably disposed of League One side Tranmere Rovers in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night.
The Welshman reverted back to the same eleven that succumbed to a 3-1 defeat against Premier League leaders Arsenal seven days ago.
That meant a return to the side for Asmir Begovic, who ushered back four that comprised of Geoff Cameron, Ryan Shawcross, Robert Huth and the fit-again Erik Pieters, who was absent at Prenton Park with a calf injury.
Jonathan Walters lined up on the right hand side of a five-man midifled that also included Steven Nzonzi, Marc Wilson and Charlie Adam, who netted the winner in last season's clash, whilst Marko Arnautovic made his third Potters start on the left.
Kenwyne Jones got the nod to start up-front, with midweek goal-scorer Peter Crouch having to settle for a spot on the bench along with the likes of Stephen Ireland, Wilson Palacios and Oussama Assaidi.
Meanwhile, Matthew Etherington failed to make the matchday squad having suffered whiplash in a traffic incident earlier this week.
Stoke City: Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross (c), Huth, Pieters; Walters, Nzonzi, Adam, Wilson, Arnautovic; Jones. Subs: Sorensen, Whelan, Ireland, Pennant, Palacios, Assaidi, Crouch.
