STOKE CITY captain Ryan Shawcross has been included in Roy Hodgson’s 23-man England squad for next Wednesday’s international friendly against Sweden.
The 25-year old will be hoping to become the first Potter to feature for the Three Lions since Mark Chamberlain stepped off the bench against Finland in 1984.
The defender was named in Hodgson’s squad for last month’s World Cup Qualifiers against San Marino and Poland, however, he failed to feature in either encounter.
Shawcross will link up with his teammates on Sunday, following the Premeir League encounter with Queens Park Rangers at the Britannia Stadium 24 hours earlier.
The game in Stockholm is being held to officially open the new £275 million Friends Arena, and boss Roy Hodgson is expected to experiment with his side, which could mean an inclusion for Shawcross.
