Midfielder attends local community event...

TITTENSOR FIRST SCHOOL welcomed a special guest yesterday as Stoke City’s Stephen Ireland dropped in to hand out City 7s membership packs.

The midfielder, fresh from his Man of the Match display in Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Hull City, spent time meeting young Potters fans as he presented them with their packs.

The youngsters received a replica home shirt, free tickets for a Premier League game at the Britannia Stadium and a £5 voucher to open or add to a Stoke City Junior Save and Support account.

Ireland’s visit was made possible thanks to a sponsorship deal involving events firm Prem Management and the former Manchester City and Aston Villa man is a keen advocate of the City 7s scheme.

“It’s a fantastic way to get kids engaged and supporting their local team,” he told www.stokecityfc.com.

“I hope that by visiting their school I’ve inspired the youngsters to do just that and participate in outdoor sports themselves.”

Any business interested in sponsoring a school for City 7s should call City’s Head of Community Adrian Hurst on (01782) 592273.
