TONY PULIS was forced into making two changes to his starting line-up for Monday evening's live televised encounter against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
The City boss lost both Andy Wilkinson and Glenn Whelan to injury meaning their spots in the eleven went to the returning Mark Wilson and Dean Whitehead.
Wilson, who missed last weekend's 1-0 victory against Norwich City, occupied the left back spot, whilst Whitehead came straight in for Whelan to line up alongside Steven N'Zonzi at the heart of the team.
The rest of the side was as you were against the Canaries with Asmir Begovic ushering a back four that comprised of Ryan Shotton, Ryan Shawcross, Robert Huth and Republic of Ireland ace Wilson.
Jonathan Walters was deployed out wide on the right hand side of midfield, alongside former Sunderland captain Whitehead, Nzonzi and Scotland star Charlie Adam.
Last season's Player of the Year Peter Crouch partnered Cameron Jerome in attack.
STOKE CITY: Begovic; Shotton, Shawcross, Huth, Wilson; Walters, Nzonzi, Whitehead, Adam; Jerome, Crouch. Subs: Sorensen, Cameron, Palacios, Kightly, Etherington, Jones, Owen.
