John Perkins' side looking for positive result against Manchester City

STOKE CITY’S Under-18s will be looking to avenge Saturday’s defeat against Manchester United with a positive result against their city rivals tomorrow afternoon.

The Potters face Manchester City at Platt Lane (kick off 2.00pm) searching for their first win of the new 2013/14 season.

It’s been a tough start for John Perkins’ side, who suffered a 2-0 defeat away at Fulham on the opening day of the campaign before the 3-0 loss to United at Clayton Wood this past weekend.

Sean Goss opened the scoring for the visitors after 13 minutes when he met Demitri Mitchell’s left wing cross to fire past Dale Eve.

Ashley Fletcher then doubled their advantage on seven minutes later after City had failed to clear a loose ball.

Peter Makrillos could have pulled one back shortly afterwards but he couldn’t make the most of a rebound from Derice Richard’s testing strike at goal.

Mitchell then got on the scoresheet himself five minutes after the break, tapping home James Wilson’s cross to complete the victory.

It will as equally tough tomorrow against a Manchester City side that have scored six goals in their opening two matches.

They recorded a 2-0 win at Sunderland on Saturday, following on from a 4-4 draw at West Bromwich Albion, to give them four points on the board following their opening two fixtures.
