STOKE CITY'S development squad will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they welcome Liverpool to the Britannia Stadium this evening in the Barclays U21 Premier League (kick-off 7.00pm).
Despite going into the game having been narrowly edged out by a single goal against Manchester City last Friday, the young Potters have turned their fortunes around since the start of 2014 and elevated themselves into mid-table.
Glyn Hodges' side had previously been on a three match unbeaten run after picking up a draw against Sunderland before following it up with triumphs over Tottenham Hotspur and Middlesbrough in recent weeks.
Liverpool meanwhile have only played once since the turn of the year but arrive in North Staffordshire on the back of a 4-2 victory away to an Arsenal side which included the likes of England star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Carl Jenkinson, Emmanuel Frimpong in their starting line-up.
The Anfield club currently sit sixth in the league table and just nine points behind leaders Fulham with four games in hand, whilst City occupy 12th spot but a win tonight would close the gap on Liverpool to a single point.
Meanwhile, John Perkins' Under-18s team entertain Bolton Wanderers at the Clayton Wood Training Ground on Saturday morning (kick-off 11.00am) hoping to build on an emphatic 4-1 win against Liverpool two weeks ago after last weekend's game away to Blackburn Rovers was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
City have already faced the Trotters earlier this season but were unable to find a way past William Jaaskelainen in the Bolton goal and had to settle for 0-0 draw against Tony Kelly's side.
