JONATHAN WALTERS is a true Potter in every sense now . . . after turning his hand to the creation of a unique piece of pottery which will be auctioned off for charity.
The Republic of Ireland international paid a visit to the Anita Harris Pottery in Longton and put his creative skills to good use by helping to hand paint the auction item which will raise money for the Club’s Community Fund at the Chairman’s Charity Ball on Friday.
The opportunity to work with Anita Harris on this special creation forms part of the close association with the local pottery in celebrating the Club’s 150th anniversary.
Anita Harris Pottery have created three set of tiles carrying the badges of City’s opposition in each of their Barclays Premier League matches at the Britannia Stadium, two of which are presented to Directors and supporters representatives from the visitors.
The third tile which has been created will make up a stunning mosaic which tells the story of such an historically significant 2012-13 season in the Club’s 150th year.
“I am not very artistic, I only do a bit with the kids sometimes,” confessed Walters. “But I have had a great time helping out with a unique piece of pottery that will be auctioned off at the Chairman’s Charity Ball. Hopefully, it will sell well and raise a lot of money.
“Anita has also produced a limited edition set of tiles for each of the matches we play in the Premier League to mark our 150th anniversary season which look fantastic.”
He added: “I look forward to these community events – especially these small operations where only a couple of people work. A lot of our fans have either worked or are working in the pottery industry, so it is nice to come out and support these people and show our faces.”
Tickets are still available for the Chairman’s Charity Ball, one of the highlights of the events calendar at the Britannia Stadium which takes place on Friday 9th November.
