Defender hoping to return at Craven Cottage

LONG-TERM injury victim Marc Wilson believes he is well on target to make his Barclays Premier League return against Fulham at the weekend.

The Republic of Ireland international hasn’t featured for the first team since suffering a broken leg against Sunderland back in October, however, he has thrust himself back into contention for a spot in the side in

London after coming through two recent behind-closed-door encounters unscathed.

Wilson has been pencilled in to feature in another friendly, against Scunthorpe United, on Monday afternoon, before boss Tony Pulis decides whether to include him in the squad for the trip to Craven Cottage.

“I am looking towards the Fulham game now as a possible return to action,” the former Portsmouth star said.

“I think the game on Monday will benefit me, and then I have the rest of the week to get myself right for the weekend.

“I want to be back out on the pitch, because watching from the stands just watching isn't the same."

He added: “I’ve had a few weeks of training, and I’ve played in a few games now too. The good news is that I haven’t felt any twinges, if anything it is just general stiffness, which was to be expected.”

Tickets for Saturday’s game are now on general sale.
