STOKE CITY’S Under-18s side got their season off to a flying start on Saturday morning courtesy of a 7-1 victory against Liverpool.

John Perkins’ charges clinically put away their chances at Clayton Wood with all three forwards netting against the Merseyside outfit.

First-year scholar and Wales Under-17 international striker Thomas Shepherd bagged himself a hat-trick, whilst Charles Weston-Hayles and Yusuf Coban both struck twice to complete the rout.

The fixture was the first of three consecutive home games for the young Potters as they now get set to entertain North East clubs Middlesbrough and Newcastle United over the course of the next couple of weekends.
