ASMIR BEGOVIC is determined to further enhance his reputation at the Britannia Stadium over the coming months . . . having enjoyed a superb start to the 2012/13 Barclays Premier League campaign.
The Bosnian international goalkeeper has conceded just 12 goals in his 15 league games this season, keeping an incredible seven clean sheets in the process.
Only Manchester City and England stopper Joe Hart can boast a more impressive record than the Potters number one, who says that he will be doing his utmost to continue to frustrate opposing top-flight players.
"It's been a fantastic start to the season for us, and in terms of our defensive performances I really don't think it could have gone much better for us," he told stokecityfc.com.
"We do put a lot of work into the defensive side of the game, and things have really clicked for us so far this season. It's helped keeping Ryan and Robert together in the middle because they have been solid in there.
"It's been a team effort though for sure, because every player has a duty to defend at one point or another. The wingers and forwards all get back and help out too, so it is definitely a big effort from all of us."
He added: "For me personally it's been great. Keeping a clean-sheet gives me the same satisfaction as it does for a striker who scores a goal. It's a great feeling and hopefully I can keep a few more."
Begovic was speaking at a presentation night for the Club's City 7s - a scheme that gives seven-year-old fans the chance to enhance their association with the Potters.
After partaking in a question and answer session with 60 youngsters and their families in the Tony Waddington Suite on Monday evening, the Bosnian handed out signed goody bags before posing for photographs and
signing autographs for the excited fans.
"It's been a really fun evening," he said after the event. "I enjoy coming to these sort of things and mixing with the children and their families. It's always nice to help put a smile on their faces.
"The Club work incredibly hard in trying to bring young supporters into the Club and I have told the guys in the Community department what a great job they are doing, because with each one of these that I attend, it just seems to get bigger and better."
