Begovic out Injured

THOMAS SORENSEN will make his first Premier League appearance of the season in Stoke City's clash with Newcastle at St James' Park this afternoon.

Manager Mark Hughes has drafted the Danish international goalkeeper into his starting line-up in place of Asmir Begovic, who picked up a knock in training yesterday.

The Potters have also recalled Jack Butland from his loan spell with Championship outfit Barnsley and the England Under-21 man is among the substitutes for the Boxing Day game in the north east.

Butland's loan with Barnsley was due to end tomorrow but the Club have taken the decision to recall him 24 hours earlier to provide cover for Sorensen.

Hughes has made one other change to the side that started against Aston Villa on Saturday with Charlie Adam returning at the expense of Marko Arnautovic, who drops to the bench.

Team: Sorensen, Cameron, Wilson, Shawcross (capt), Pieters, Walters, Whelan, Nzonzi, Adam, Assaidi, Crouch. Subs: Butland, Muniesa, Palacios, Jones, Arnautovic, Wilkinson, Ireland.
