Brek's Back

BREK SHEA hit the comeback trail yesterday by featuring for Stoke City's Under-21 side against Wolves.

The US international played for 45 minutes of the Barclays Under-21 Premier League game at Molineux, which Wolves won 2-1.

It was Shea's first taste of match action since damaging knee ligaments after finding himself on the receiving end of a robust challenge in the Potters' pre-season friendly against Philadelphia Union on July 30.

The Stoke line-up also featured Maurice Edu and Florent Cuvelier, both of whom played the full 90 minutes.

Adam Thomas gave Stoke a first half lead when he fired home from a free-kick, albeit with the aid of a slight deflection, but Wolves hit back after the break with two goals in three minutes to claim the points.

Stoke City: Eve, Keane (capt), Wheeler, Ward, Grant, Watkins, Thomas, Edu, Waring, Cuvelier, Shea (Alabi 45). Subs not used: Gomez, Bachmann, Rossi, Scott.
