Club Statement

STOKE CITY have today announced the resignation from the Board of Phil Rawlins, subsequent to the sale of Phil Rawlins' shares in the Club to Stoke Holdings, a company ultimately controlled by Denise, John and Peter Coates. Phil had been a Director of the Club since March 2000.

Stoke City Chairman, Peter Coates, commented: "I would like to thank Phil for the support and contribution that he has made as a Director of the club, both initially when the club was in Icelandic ownership and in the period since Denise, John and I bought the Club. It is understandable that over the past few years Phil has had to contribute substantially all of his time and efforts into Orlando City and all of us at the Club wish him well for the coming season and of course for 2015 when they will be playing in the MLS."

Phil Rawlins commented: "My commitments in the States and the elevation of Orlando City to MLS unfortunately mean that I can no longer put the necessary time into my duties as a Stoke Director. I have thoroughly enjoyed my tenure on the Board and have many great memories to cherish."

"My first game as a Director was Rochdale at home in the Northern Final of the Auto Windscreens Shield... we've come a mighty long way since then! I hope and believe that I have contributed in some capacity to the resurgence of our great Club. I wish Peter, Mark Hughes and the rest of the team the very best for 2014 and beyond."
