Derby Stopper Joins On Loan

MARK HUGHES has strengthened his goalkeeping ranks by capturing Derby County stopper Lee Grant on loan.

The 33-year-old has agreed a temporary switch to the bet365 Stadium until the New Year to provide further competition to the likes of Jack Butland, Shay Given and Jakob Haugaard.

The experienced 'keeper has made 420 appearances throughout his career - with the vast majority of those coming in the second tier of English football.

Speaking to stokecityfc.com, Mark Hughes said: "We felt it was important to make sure that we are well covered in that area.

"We obviously have good young 'keepers, but Lee is experienced, he is of a good age and we felt it would be sensible for us to bring him in if we possibly could.

He added: "We have been able to do that, and it ensures we are covered for any eventuality now."
