Desire Pays For Hodges

GLYN HODGES has praised his side's desire after coming from behind to earn a valuable Premier League 2 point at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night.

Julien Ngoy's late strike rescued a late draw for Stoke City U23s at Telford United's New Bucks Head stadium.

City could have recorded the victory against their West Midlands neighbours, but Tyrese Campbell saw his first half penalty saved by Andy Lonergan after being fouled by the goalkeeper.

Donovan Wilson had opened the scoring just 20 seconds into the second half, after appearing Wolves' bench in their Championship defeat to Wigan Athletic just 24 hours before.

However, Ngoy stole the show after marking his U23 return with a goal following five Premier League appearances for the Potters' first team in the last few months.

"Julien was a constant thorn for them," City U23 boss Hodges said.

"He was great playing down the middle and was always a threat.

"When the chance fell for him he was the one with the quality to take it. His goal was fully deserved.

"The boys showed great desire and attitude to get back into the game having conceded so early in the second half."
